The new Directive 2013/35/EU essentially takes over the employer’s obligations as described in the previous Directive (obligation to assess exposure levels, introduction of measures to avoid or reduce risks, information and training of workers) but introduces changes on exposure limit values and values triggering preventive action. Finally, it requires Member States to transpose it into national law by 1 July 2016 at the latest. France was the first country to adopt legislation in this area, a law passed by the National Assembly on 10 February 2015 to limit exposure to electromagnetic waves.
